POP! Design.Culture.Fashion - Exhibition Review

POP!
DESIGN.CULTURE.FASHION

POP! is a touring exhibition from the Fashion & Textiles Museum in London, stopping by at the Barnsley Civic. I went to a private viewing of the exhibition last night and and it was delightful seeing some historical pieces ranging between 1950's and 1970's, hitting at poodle skirts, studded leather jackets, Mary Quant monchrome dresses and The Beatles' memorabilia to name a few. Barnsley College fashion students also linked in with the exhibition, creating outfits that were inspired by popular culture and the Union Jack flag.

Barnsley College Fashion Students were given a brief to create a very British outfit and inspired by British designers and pop culture. There were some lovely outfits and were well executed technically. They had to stick to the Union Jack Flag colours as well as black. My personal favourite was the long black shirt that that was made in a sheer fabric with a devore print on (the far left outfit on the photo below).
